GREEN HARVEST TREE PASTE - a tonic for your trees

Nourish and protect your fruit trees and vines with this Tree Paste, exclusive to Green Harvest. Save yourself the time and hassle of collecting all the ingredients, as some of them are hard-to-find. This Tree Paste is modelled on the Biodynamic Tree Paste, expounded by Rudolf Steiner and mentioned throughout the BD literature ever since.

t is a tonic for your trees as it includes fertilising ingredients, which stimulate rapid, healthy growth and will help to heal and seal any wounds. It helps build the long-term health and vitality of your fruit trees and roses.

As a remedial treatment apply in spring and autumn, avoiding the extremes of very cold or hot weather. It is an excellent alternative to bitumen-based wound sealants for bigger cuts or storm damaged limbs in that it protects, seals and feeds. To use, simply cut back to fresh wood and treat with the paste. Also use it to fill deep cracks and fissures in trees by first using the slurry then filling the hole with paste straight from the tub.

In winter apply it as part of orchard maintenance, after pruning. First remove loose bark, lichen, insect eggs and small insects hiding in the bark. The Tree Paste may repel tree borers, sapsuckers, aphids and scale. Brush the bark with a stiff-bristled brush to assist the penetration of the tree paste through to the active cambium layer.

Each small batch is hand-made and may include the all natural ingredients: diatomaceous earth, potassium, sea weed, white clay, cow manure, olive oil and trace elements. One tub will cover approx. 4 trees with a diameter of 10 cm, up to 2m high. For easy application, mix 2 tablespoons of Tree Paste per tree to a slurry using BD 500, diluted liquid manure or seaweed solution or rainwater. If the mix goes solid and hard, add 1 tbsp of olive oil.

Apply the Tree Paste slurry to the trunk, from the ground up and onto the older brown and grey limbs (not the newer green growth), as high as possible with gloved hands or using a paintbrush. It is recommended to clear away mulch to expose and have access to the base of the trunk.

The Tree Paste can be applied to all fruit trees and vines, but only around the base of citrus.
